L&S Records is an independent recording label founded by saxophonist Wonki Lee, dedicated to exceptional performances of classical saxophone music—from established masterworks and rediscovered repertoire to new works by today’s composers. Through artist-centered mentorship, professional production, and thoughtful promotion, L&S Records also supports the next generation of saxophonists in bringing their artistic visions from recording to release.
From Recording to Release
L&S Records provides emerging classical saxophonists with the mentorship, expertise, and professional infrastructure to transform a recording into a professionally released album.
Whether an artist comes to us with finished recordings or needs guidance from the beginning of the process, our approach is personal and collaborative. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all release service, our team of professionals work with each artist to understand the music, the artistic goals, and the role the recording can play in building a professional career.
-
A successful recording begins long before the recording session. L&S Records works closely with saxophone students and emerging professionals to develop projects with a clear artistic identity and purpose. We provide individualized guidance on repertoire selection, programming, album concepts, recording preparation, and release strategy—helping artists create recordings that represent who they are and support the next stage of their professional careers.
-
Artists are welcome to bring completed recordings or final mixes to L&S Records. For those who need additional support, we can assist with planning recording sessions and coordinating experienced recording engineers, producers, pianists or collaborating musicians, and appropriate recording venues. Our goal is to help each artist find a recording solution that fits the artistic vision, location, and budget of the project.
-
Once the recording is complete, L&S Records guides the project from final mixes to a release-ready album. Our production services include professional mastering, track sequencing, classical metadata preparation, composer and performer credits, catalog information, and quality control. Particular attention is given to the specialized requirements of classical recordings, including multi-movement works and detailed performer and composer metadata.
-
A recording should have a visual identity that reflects the quality of the music. L&S Records develops professional album artwork and coordinates the complete visual presentation of each release, including cover design, booklet and liner-note layouts, CD packaging, and digital artwork. We work with each artist to create a distinctive visual identity that feels authentic to the project while meeting professional production and distribution standards.
-
L&S Records prepares and distributes releases for major digital streaming and download platforms while also supporting artists who value the permanence of a physical recording. We coordinate CD manufacturing, packaging, and physical release preparation so that artists can have professionally produced recordings available for recitals, conferences, competitions, teaching, promotion, and direct sales.
-
A professional recording deserves an audience. L&S Records develops release materials and conducts targeted outreach to relevant classical-music and saxophone media, including review magazines, music publications, websites, and other appropriate outlets. We prepare press materials and submit qualifying releases for editorial and review consideration. Media coverage and reviews are independently determined by each publication and cannot be guaranteed.
